چکیده

Given the potential of acid-activated clays in adsorptive and catalytic processes, several studies focusing on acid matrices have grown over years, making it possible to study vermiculite, a mineral composed type 2:1 unit cell with tetrahedral octahedral sheets. Therefore, this work aimed vermiculite treated acids for production matrices. In work, treatment natural vermiculite-hydrobiotite, nitric concentrations 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1 mol.L-1, followed by dealumination process sulfuric 25% v/v, aiming applications as support biocatalysts, chemical adsorbents, among others. The produced materials were characterized using different techniques, including X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared thermogravimetric analysis, isotherm adsorption BET method. results showed that after leaching high SiO2 content, Brønsted Lewis surface acidity, good adsorption/desorption performance, significant growth specific area, qualifying promising material future biocatalytic processes. concentration had considerable influence compositional textural modification vermiculite-hydrobiotite.

Simulation of Bioreactors for PHB Production from Natural Gas

Recently, many economic studies of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) PHB production on an industrial scale, and the impact of replacing petrochemical polymers by PHB were carried out, clearly indicating that the most crucial factors to reduce the cost of producing biopolymers are allotted to the application of microbial production strains capable of high productivi...

Removal of low concentrations of ammonium and humic acid from simulated groundwater by Vermiculite/Palygorskite mixture.

Contaminants in water are classified into different types based on their physical and chemical properties. Thus, more than one type of sorbents may be needed for their removal. In this article, a combination of vermiculite with palygorskite was studied for their simultaneous removal of ammonium and humic acid from simulated groundwater. Batch results showed that the Langmuir model described amm...

Surface Properties of Natural Calcite Filler Treated with Stearic Acid

In order to obtain hydrophobic material, the water suspension of natural limestone with the high content of calcite (>95 %), was treated with different amounts (0.5-4 %) of stearic acid dissolved in chloroform. Thermal analysis showed that at lower initial concentrations of stearic acid (up to 2 %), surfactant molecules are chemisorbed on calcite surface, while at higher initial concentrations ...

Separation of Carbon Dioxide from Natural Gas by Matrimid-Based Mixed Matrix Membranes

Spherical MgO nanoparticles and Flake-like clay minerals modified with polyaniline (PAni) are applied in Matrimid in order to fabricate mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) having improved gas separation performance. The CO2 permeability, CO2/CH4 selectivity and CO2-induced plasticization pressure of MMMs are assessed at 4-30 bar feed pressure. The chemical structure, morphology and thermal properties...

Improved Bioethanol Production Using Activated Carbon-treated Acid Hydrolysate from Corn Hull in Pachysolen tannophilus

To optimally convert corn hull, a byproduct from corn processing, into bioethanol using Pachysolen tannophlius, we investigated the optimal conditions for hydrolysis and removal of toxic substances in the hydrolysate via activated carbon treatment as well as the effects of this detoxification process on the kinetic parameters of bioethanol production. Maximum monosaccharide concentrations were ...
